Dress A Girl Around the World

One of our summer reading activities was a sew-along, where people gathered one evening to join the efforts of  Hope 4 Women International. It was inspirational to see the creativity and generosity of our patrons as they stitched together dress, after beautiful dress. The process was fun too! I learned how to make a dress and even mastered (sort of) the use double-fold bias tape! Thank you to Linda Booth, Priscilla Flack, Jean Lemmon, and Shari Whitney for jumping right into this project.

Dresses are currently on display in the library.

All finished dresses will be collected this week and shipped out the first week of September. This is a quick and easy sewing project and we encourage you to participate by sewing at home and bringing your finished projects to the library.

Operation Helmetliner

I've spoken informally about a worthy project with a few crafty patrons and staff members, but am thinking, the more the merrier!

Checkout Citizen SAM. Specifically, select find out more where you see Operation Helmetliner. If you'd like to join our efforts and have your handmade item included in our package, bring finished projects to the library by the end of February.

Please keep in mind:
IT MUST BE 100% Wool or it will not be sent. Acrylic and acrylic blends pose a fire/melting hazard and do not have the same insulating properties of wool. Select yarn that is black, brown, dark gray or black (preferred). Visit Citizen SAM for more details and patterns.

Knot Only Knitters groups meet in the library on Mondays from 12:00 noon - 2:00 PM and on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. You don't have to be a knitter to join. Anyone is welcome to attend and to bring whatever they are working on: knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, needlework, whatever!

Be Free, Little Fellas!

Thank you to Lindsay Kuhn for a terrific experience and for sharing her knowledge and love of butterflies with us for our special program. We enjoyed having the winged beauties living with us in the library and the release was awesome - lots of learning, wonder and good ol' fun!

It was wonderful to have a great turn out of friends to bid farewell to the butterflies. Maybe they'll find a happy place to live right nearby.
Keep your eyes open for them when you visit the library!
