Get Out!

Spring fever is rising and folks are getting back outdoors to enjoy nature. Later this spring the Marion Public Library will be hosting a Trail Works, Inc. information session (details to come). Trail Works' purpose is to provide a unified voice for Wayne County trail users as well as to coordinate the development and maintenance of high-quality, year-round, multi-use trails.

Did you know that one of the planned projects is for a trail in Marion, which will link to the Erie Canal?

Trail Works is working with Wegmans and their Passport to Family Wellness Program. Wegmans will provide the funding, format and prizes for the program
.

It will involve an actual “Passport” with 16 outdoor trails mapped out and described around Wayne County. Some will be village history trails, some will be canal trails and others will be nature trails for wild flower or bird watching. Some will be in swamps and bogs while others will be along the lake shore or up on the Drumlins. Each trail head will have a unique symbol that you will trace or rub into your passport book. When completed, you turn your Passport into Wegmans for drawings and prizes (exact details yet to be worked out). The program is slated to begin in the Spring of 2009.
