Exploding Chalk Bombs

Fizz, Boom, FUN!
This was a really fun experiment. A little bit of art and a little bit of science!

Here is what you need to make your own:

  • zip seal sandwich bag

  • cornstarch

  • liquid watercolor paint or food colors

  • vinegar

  • baking soda

Mix vinegar, liquid watercolor paint (or food coloring) and corn starch together in a ziplock bag (keep it liquid, no amounts measured). Pour baking soda onto a paper towel square and fold it up. Again, we didn't measure, but the more you use, the bigger the reaction will be when the active ingredients mix.

We didn't measure, but went hefty on the amount-  the more you use for each bag the bigger the reaction between the active ingredients, and the bigger the explosion - See more at: http://www.growingajeweledrose.com/2013/05/play-recipe-sidewalk-chalk.html#sthash.Pk6o0sFD.dpuf

When ready, add baking soda bomb into bag, seal immediately, shake and place on ground. The bags will slowly expand and POP! The burst will create beautiful sidewalk art!
